Rigging Spoons

I have heard different views on rigging spoons. One school of thought is to tie your main line directly to the ring on the spoon so there is no swivel involved. The other theory is to tie a bead chain swivel to your main line and then tie a leader (say 6 feet in length) to the ring on the spoon.

Any thoughts on which is better? Or...is there another set up which I have not heard about

i have always had better success tieing the leader directly
to the ring on the spoon
the swivel takes some of the action out of the spoon.

I just say :D"Ah Fork it and even add a Knife now and then.":D Seriuosly though I generally run a spoon a few feet behind a KoneZone Flasher. When they are working it's hard to beat a spoon and you can save your bait for later. When they aren't producing I go for my # 1 choice, Plug Cut Herring.
