herring stocks can rebuild themselves if man doesn't over fish them.
"as long as DFO is not involved in their management".
"And they have food"

The same go's for the salmon. As with any species in nature population is directly proportionate to it's available food supply. How can wild salmon stocks recover when there main food supply is disappearing in the area's frequented and traveled for spawning. More herring would naturaly relate to greater salmon escapement from mother nature. Whats more important than how many hatchery fish are released, is how many wilds come back. More feed equates to lower natural mortality in wild and hatchery fish. (wouldn't be so much survival of the fittest goen on). If wild stocks were managed properly and didn't have to survive on craft dinner of the sea, hatcheries could eventually downsize and wild fish would have a chance to recover.

"Thats my story and I'm stickin to it"

" Why not let DFO manage the seal population like it's managed the fish for a while"???? Just a thought.

I'm setting priorities & making time for fishing.
