Some bugs in the E-licensing system mean freshwater anglers don’t need a fishing license to cast their lines - At least not until April 17th. Environment Minister Barry Penner has exempted sports fishermen from having a fishing license for the next nine days.
The Ministry needs time to deliver paper licenses to vendors and fix the new electronic license system.
The system malfunctioned because so many anglers were trying to buy licenses last week.
