Just got back from checking out Greater Victoria Firefighters take on NHL Oldtimers. The Firefighters got lit up. Lots of entertainment and they are in Vancouver tomorrow. Worth checking out if your on that side of the pond. Highlights inlcuded Cliff Ronning, Theo Fleury, and Ron Duagay showing off their skills. The ref, ex official Ron Hoggarth, MC'd the whole thing. Dave Babych making great passes. Full roster shootout on the poor firefighters goalie. Cliff Ronning end to end with rockets on skates. Theo Fleury shootout with the butt end of his stick, and he can shoot with that end too. Trevor Kidd in net for old timers. Mike Keane is too young to be on the old timers me thinks. And to top it all off, Theo Fleury sings Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash, with Bryan Trottier on the strings!! Too funny. Bet it's all too familiar for Fleury. Good to see him having a good time and bringing smiles to so many kids. He's had a rough go.
