New yellow donut? (scotty weight retriever)

My Donut is Done.

...I mean the little yellow plastic donut at the end of my scotty cable/weight retriever. So i saw someone one the water with different rings (looked more like a bracelet, as their donut which got me thinking? Is there a cheap and maybe better alternative to the yellow donut?... because the scotty donut seems to get grooved over time and operates less smoothly.

Any suggestions?

Commercial trollers use a white donut on their Gurdy lines. I think they were porcelain. Maybe Noggs needle can confirm, or call and ask Campbell at Trotac in Victoria. Derby up at Pacific Net & Twine in Parksville/Coombs will know.

How "done" is it? Mine were getting rough, so I drilled it out to the next size up and they still work fine.

PnT or red 'n' net sell's the scotty blue commercial ones 6 pack
wire chews through more than braid
and don't let them pull leads stay tight as that will speed up the wear process

the rubber figure eight have started to split on mine and have one fail already
