Gents, I notice that there’s a “Anchor Symbol” on many areas of the West Coast. Many times there is some odd spots with over 150ft depths. Was wondering it this symbol may or could mean it’s a anchoring/mooring buoy? Looking at spontaneous trip to Nootka In May and was just gonna sleep in the boat.

Different anchor symbols symbolize different size vessels and anchorages or unknown. Good idea to learn the nautical symbols and super easy to look up with the internet.

Are they off shore?
Could be someones saved hali spot, that they saved to public charts.. doh!

If there is a green plus by the anchor, click (or tap) on the anchor symbol and a cross-hairs with a ? appears. Sometimes you get details on the point of interest. For example here's the anchorage in Bedwell Harbour. It tells you the sea bed (sand) and some other info on the marina.

Ya this particular spot says anchorage area - Unrestricted
