Looks like he was using a Crappy Tire wire feed. I had one once, and could never get it to make a weld that didn't look better than that.

I agree it looks like a crappy tire welder but it’s actually a Miller! He’s a woodworker/drywall guy. Told him last week he can borrow my hardwire and shielding gas but if he really wants to try then just put little tacks and bring it over. Gasless flux cored wire is not meant for thin steel tubing, subtract welding skills and not watching YouTube = disaster
All welded up nice and returned just thought I’d share. A WOW moment for sure

Yes sir, yes you do ;)
Definitely some issues there. But the question remains,, were you of assistance to him and get it welded up. The man definitely needs some guidance and practice for sure. Hopefully he was encouraged to keep trying and shown where his mistakes are.

LOOKS GREAT.... thats wonder if it will hold weld!!!!!!

There are a couple milliseconds of greatness there, just have to look really close ;)
I “assisted” him by welding it proper, and telling him not to quit his day job lol. Wasn’t the prettiest thing to fix on that side having to weld over the junk, the opposite side looked great, his fab skills (fit up) were pretty good
I’m a red seal pressure welder, post covid he can watch over my shoulder
