More boat launch issues.... Campbell River

Yeah the city launches pretty much suck even when they're not so crowded there's no where to park. $10 at disco is worth it, another cost but pretty much the cheapest part of a day on the water and you never have to battle conditions.

In 1970 there were eight boat ramps that l can remember. Ken Fordes, two at big rock, one downtown near the ferry terminal, two on the spit, fresh water marina, and the bottom of Perkins road. Not counting one at stories beach, and one at shelter point,
Now we have five. Ken Fords, only accessable at high tides, but hey it has nice washrooms, big rock , only one now, with poor parking, no facilities; the other ramp has been replaced with a popular little coffee shop (good coffee too). The one at Discovery Marina (newest and best), fresh water marina, (gated) and Perkins road.
The only one that offers any entertainment for the locals is the one at big rock, with the occasional truck and trailer launch, and other launch and retrieval follies, made so much more interesting by the easy accessibility of a bit of alcohol from accross the street. Welcome to the "Salmom Capital of the World".
