Leader Length For Spoons Behind a Flasher....

Talking spoons 4 1/2" or smaller here. For Chinook.

Some say 6ft or more......but off WCVI last year I heard they were going as short as 28".

I do good at about 56".....have gotten them on 42"...also 6ft.

Coyotes are light spoons ....
Some Commie spoons are pretty heavy.

Should you run the heavier spoons shorter to get more action?

Does running a spoon on real short leader mess up the action or enhance it?

I usually run my spoons about 48-50" behind the flasher.
I find if you get it too close, the flasher action dampens the spoon's action.
All my spoons are light with fast action which seem to work good on Chinook.

i like the 5-6' length for spoons offshore;
structure fishing/inshore i go out 6-8'

Some will scratch their headz, but I run my 6in matrix spoon behind a flasher @ 15ft & longer depending if I run only 2 linez
Even had luck using a Ford fender & long lead on the same size spoon...................my imitationtz of a skoolz of bait fish
