Kicker charging question.

Wired up my 2000 6hp yamaha kicker to charge the battery I use for downriggers and fishfinders. Alls well there as it puts out lots of volts. Maybe too many? 13v at trolling speed (2-2.5mph) and up to 14.5v trolling into the current. I'm guessing it's not regulated on this motor? Is this too much continuos power? On a side note, fished lower Arrow lake yesterday. One small Kokanee and one middlin' size Dolly. Both caught in new areas. Both released to bite again another day.

Yep all good.

14.5 is good. most alternators output that voltage approx when going a bit faster than trolling....

Your engine voltage is unregulated, except by the battery, you can expect the voltage to go over 16v on some occasions. The amperage it puts out at maximum would be about 6amps. If you have any voltage sensitive instruments, it might be a good idea to turn them off if the voltage gets near their highest rating.
