Kamloops trout fishing in late sept (need advice!)

Hey guys,

I'm heading to Kamloops for a bit next week and I was hoping to either fish a lake or the thompson river with a buddy of mine.

I'm terrible at catching trout and was hoping some of you more experienced guys could give me some pointers so I could hopefully get into some fish!

Any advice on setups/lures or bait? I have a spinning setup and a fly rod.

I'd really like to have some success so would appreciate any pointers on presentation or setups for late september success!

Thanks in advance!

Fall is usually great time to troll leaches on the edge of shoals. (Usually black with a hint of red in the mix) You could cast the fly but I usually have better luck trolling along the edge of the drop off. Troll with a fast sinking line and I usually row. This gives an undulating and uneven speed on the fly. Try to stay near the bottom. Most of the lakes around Kamloops will be great fishing at that time of year.
