Does anyone pack immersion suits on their boats in case of emergency?
Yep I carry two as well as my 6 man Viking lift raft in a cannister and a PLB EPIRB. No such thing as too much safety
heres a couple 200 bucks a pieceTrue enough about the safey, I installed an EPIRB last year and am definately thinking about some of those suits but I priced them out and they were $700 each. Anyone hear of any better deals on them than that?
Anyone with these suits has to remember to practice regularly getting into them in about 1 minute. If you can't get them on completely and properly in that time your more than likely going to be getting wet in the time a small boat will swamp. Once your wet the suits can't do their job. You have to be able to get in them dry. The zippers also have to be regularly treated to keep them water tight.
You can reduce the bulk by storing them in a dry bag and squeezing out all the air before you seal the bag. They end up less than half the volume.
Do any of you guys use a SPOT for cheaper option than a EPIRB?
I like to keep mine in my bow locker. My question is how do you keep it from getting all moldy by the end of the season from sitting in the boat?
Hey man, if you ever took that old tub of a boat of yours out in the open water than i would agree with wanting immersion suits but with you only going out 5 or 10 min from the docks your ok im sure.
