Heat Exchanger

I have an older Mercruise in-line 6 and having a bit of trouble with heat exchanger.. there was a leak on the bottom end so I took it out and discovered the rubber cap on the bottom end was torn.... swapped the rubber cap from the top and put in on the bottom. Then did a Red Green on the other one and put it back on top.. Seems to have solved the prob;em for now, and the top cap is easy to change... my question is....where can you buy these "caps" and are they indeed interchangable?
