FN want sports fishing closed.

Actually your friends have it all wrong David, the way forward will be to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to manage the resource and use it wisely in a sustainable way. Giving "control" over fisheries management to one particular stakeholder is simply a recipe for disaster. We have a few examples of working together in Harvest Round Tables where all stakeholders sit around a table with the science facts from DFO and they make decisions around how fisheries will be run. The next logical evolution of that process would be to have those same stakeholders directly involved in determining the major fishery management policy decisions....how we manage hatchery production, repair or construct new habitat, protect sensitive habitats important to our fisheries, manage predators etc.

How do roundtables determine the amount of FSC catch?

Just be aware that the next evolution of the round table discussions with "stakeholders" and First Nations to determine those major fishery management policy decisions looks like it may be a bit more complicated than that. Looks like these fishery management harvest round tables may also be required to include environmental groups at that same table. This not just my own thoughts but has been mentioned by Wilkinson more than once. During his interview with Jill Bennett in July he mentioned that round table fisheries management discussions will need to include environmental groups. And we think negotiating with FN can be a difficult task !

Anyone heard any details of the agreement the 76 nations and the government made this summer? You would think it should be public knowledge.
