SITKA -- Alaska State Troopers say a sportfishing guide operating in Southeast Alaska has been cited for aiding clients in the violation of a fishing law.

Twenty-three-year-old Rory O'Connor of Marysville, Wash., also was cited for unlawful possession of illegally taken king salmon.

Troopers in Sitka contacted the charter vessel Prospector on May 22.

Troopers say clients of the vessel had more than their allowable limit of king salmon. Four clients had 12 kings, and the limit is one.

Troopers say the clients had left the state when the violations were detected, but the investigation is continuing.

Eight of the 12 king salmon were seized.
