Direct Fuel Injection ?

Anyone tried the DFI Oil from West Maine in Direction Fuel Injection two strokes. They put their oils on sale at half price some times and the DFI oil from Merc. is extremely expensive. Is it the same quality /meet the same specs. etc? Don’t want to be replacing a $20,000 outboard early by going cheep on oil and I have heard that the big Opti is very sensitive on the gas mix oil and that the Merc DFI oil has a lot of additives and special cleaners etc.

With a opti, service, service and use the good oils. The good oil is cheep insurance to not popping a power head. Also use their fuel injector cleaner to keep the injector tip clean and getting full burn on your fuel.

I would advise that you stick with Mercury Marine's recommended oil. I'm sure Mercury have done there testing with many different types of oils and formulas to make your Opti run top notch. A lot of aftermarket oils will have wax that will gum up your fuel system. Hope this helps in your adventure.

Agreed with the other guys above, good oil is you're cheapest insurance.
