Conservation volunteering

Hello,
I'm looking to arrange for a small group of avid anglers (3-5 of us) to volunteer towards conservation efforts on the west coast. I've reached out to the salmon foundation and sturgeon society in Vancouver but have yet to hear back. Has anyone done such a thing and can provide some recommendations? We are flexible on travel dates, but hopefully some time between June and August.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Frank

@aznriceman Not sure who you reached out to here at PSF but what sort of volunteer work are you interested in doing? We typically don't need as many volunteers as the stream-keeping groups that we fund so it is often best to go directly to them. A good place to start is - http://www.pskf.ca/ - which is the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation. We work closely with Zo-Ann and her group and they will be in a better position to let you know when and where stream-keepers are in need of some help. You can also check out the last few pages of each of PSF's annual magazines - https://www.psf.ca/about/annual-mag - as we publish a list of the 100's of community groups we fund each year. Hope that helps and thanks for stepping up to offer your time!

I just emailed the info address I found on the website.

I actually have no idea what types of projects are out there and am open to anything related to marine life conservation.

Thanks for the link and direction. I'll continue from there!

Well-- one job that is continuous on the west side of the Island is debris cleanup. Not sure if Pacific Rim Park uses voluteers for cleanups, but worth at look.

And there are opportunities like this .. https://georgiastrait.org/2014/08/helping-the-kelp/

This list of the DFO Community Advisors that work with volunteers from around the province is a good place to start as well. Open the Community Advisor list of projects that each CA supports to see what others are volunteering for-- maybe hook up with one group or ??? Good luck.

@Cuba Libre Thanks for the details and sorry for the late reply. Been busy at work and haven't had much time to check things out. Will look into it further and report back with findings! :)
