Catching Baitfish(Anchovy/Herring)

Hey guys,

Who here has experience doing this. Picked up a couple sabiki rigs and a small glow weight that I can clip on, What else is there to it? Just find a bait ball on the sounder and drop it down and start jigging? Is this even worthwhile in Vancouver area? What time of year is best? All the anchovies I've seen around the marina have been pretty small, I guess by spring they'll be worthwhile to target??

We caught herring during their late winter/early spring spawn using the same rig. Just head out and find the commies and away you go.

Remember the days of herring rakes. Thanks to DFO, nobody will experience that again. :-(. In fact it has been years since I caught a salmon with a herring in its digestive system.
