Braided main line- How long does it last?

I recently moved back to the island and want to start trying for some halibut. I have two rods with penn reels that both have braided mainline on them. The line is probably 5-6 years old but has only been used a number of times over that time.

Would that line still be good or should I get them swapped out for new stuff?

If it was stored properly out of weather and sun good to go. I spooled my jigging rod in 2011 same line still going strong I cut off ten feet every year.

I have used it for over 15 years easily. Put a 25ft mono topshot on it using the FG knot; that way the mono will take the abuse & can be changed as needed (at least yearly). For downrigger use, make the topshot 40 feet.
