Blue Fin Tuna in the San Juans!

BFT follow the food and have been known to visit cooler water temps but still really cool to see a slightly bigger one up this way rather than a peanut.

The warmer current is definitely picking up. Big schools of Albies that were 120-200 miles off Santa Barbera last week are now from Monterray to Eugene OR. YFT numbers picked up a lot out of San Diego the past 7 days and there's even been a few Dorado caught as well.

The bulk of the SD BFT sport boat fleet are up behind Catalina Island which is somewhat unusual to see such a massive volume up there this early.

Back in the day. I think 1998. The San Juan Gillnet test fishery got quit a few, mackerel, Skipjack, Hake and I want to say Albacore. But I'm fuzzy on that. The first 3 species for sure.

There is a distinct and permanent hake population on the inside.
