I just did my boat yesterday and the best amongst several cleaning products I had was Mr Clean magic eraser. I washed the entire boat with them and mildew is gone in a flash along with black marks etc.

I learned by experience that you don't want to close your boat up tightly for extended
periods of time unless you have a heat source or a dehumidifier.
Mildew likes cool damp air tight environment.

Ideally, you would keep a hatch and a window open so there is circulation
as long as the air can circulate you're ok.

Soapy water and household bleach works great ... and it's cheap. Test fabric first but many synthetics are okay. If you leave dilute bleach solution to dry it inhibits further growth. As mentioned, a little bit of ventilation and air circulation ends the problem. I've used one of those little Caframo puck heaters for years - only 60 watts, everything bone dry.

There is a hospital cleaner called MICROBAN. This is what mold remediation specialists use as it basically a 99.9 % kill. if mold is into upolstery and cushions, toss the foam and wash the coverings. Certain molds are toxic, so it doesn't hurt to be careful. Wear a chemical filter mask with Microban. It is nasty stuff.

Headliners and harder surfaces really clean up well with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

These things are awesome. Some little ******* tagged my truck and camper with red spray paint and those tagging pens a couple of years ago. MR. Clean Magic Eraser even removed all that.

Certainly worth a try on boat upholstery.

A spray bottle product called "CLOROX Clean-up". It is bleach based with other cleaning agents and has worked well for me.
Be careful mixing bleach with other cleaning agents, you can create a gas that you do not want to breath.

If you use any of the products that require rinsing, try to keep it from running into the storm drain. You can do this by going to a diy car wash where they are required to filter all the run off before draining into rivers, creeks, streams, ocean, lake, etc. Lots of nasty chemicals that really harm waters.

Good point.
Another advantage to cheap, old fashioned bleach (5% NaClO): it releases oxygen in the process and leaves only NaCl - table salt in solution, behind. And Clorox, as an example, has pH of 11.4. It is a quick, broadband microbe and spore killer and cleaner, performing this by releasing oxygen. If you mix undiluted bleach with a strong acid, chlorine gas can be released, so the manufacturers keep the pH high to avoid this happening.
