Bella Coola fishing - First week of September

We are thinking of planning a trip to Bella Coola September 1-6th and staying in the Float House Inn.

Does anyone know how the fishing has been down there? Any tips/information appreciated!

Ocean or river?

It will be our first time to the area and have been told that it is accessible to do both. We have a 17.5 ft boat that we are bringing down, pretty stable in choppy weather and is set up for ocean fishing.

You have to run a far ways out of Bella coola to where you will catch fish. I think you will need to run to he Burke channel 25miles out

Springs are running right now. You'll end up with late coho, pinks and the last of the chum. Char will be going good then.

I caught a 53lbs spring in late August but I was 75 miles out of bella coola. I don't think they fish salmon in the ocean right near bella coola. The water is never very clear at all its has a lot of rock flour in it, milky
