X2 on the Blue Planet series if people have not seen it. Amazing under water shots of "blue water" bait balls being attacked by tuna and swordfish. Fantastic footage and highly recommended.
Humpback whales do not have teeth. They are filter feeders with a mouth full of bristles called baleen. They eat mostly krill but clearly are happy with herring too....
Judging from the footage I'm pretty sure it would have been almost impossible for the whale to not have accidentally engulfed at least a couple of gulls if not more.
