Was thinking of trying out the Port Hardy area and saw that Scotia Bay had an RV camground and a small marina. They are located just outside Port Hardy, maybe a mile down the road?
Any insight, your experience, etc. would be appreciated.

Bud's a good guy. Good location, nice docks, and like El Cap said, good fishing out front that's protected by the bed-rock of Duvall when it's blowing NW.
I stopped going there only because I don't like being a slave to tides: he launches and retrieves your rig with a large front-end loader and it only happens on a high tide.
If you don't mind the wait, it's a really nice spot---lots of repeat guys with partying until the wee hours but it's all gentlemanly-like partying
There is moorage, no fuel, small store for tackle/ bait etc. launch and retrieve only at highish water. Cool spot and reasonable but kids over 8 are an extra $10/ night each, doesent mention that on website. Yes Jordan you could launch/ retrieve boat at the Quarterdeck marina 5 min boat ride away. Cool spot this july will be my third yr in a row.
Stayed here at Sandy and Sandras Scotia Bay B+B up on the hill overlooking the docks first week of July for a couple nights (girlfriend is best friends with them) beautiful place and dock is great with excellent cleaning stations. Yes they use their big loader to launch your boat and we had no problems doing it(19ft Campion Explorer 552) we loved it and would love to got back any chance we have.
We did not have a problem accessing the dock due to low tides.
The only issue is launching at the campsite.
We launched at Quarterdeck so not a problem.
Bud is a fantastic host that really takes care of his guests.
Make sure you stay for a couple of his potlucks.
Great access to Duval point if you have a small boat.
Not true at QD, about a 2ft drop off so any tide under 3ft it can be pretty sketchy. Last May only reason we were able to launch was because the 30' trailer has rollers...had we been using the 28' with bunks, would of had to wait for tide to come in.
