Hey everyone

Just loading up for my trip looked into the anchor locker and to my surprise there was a lot of corrison happening. Anyone else had this problem on the thunder jet the box is not painted just bare aluminum its a bit of a mess. When I return I will sand primer and paint with something like rhino liner. Just wander if anyone has noticed this and what they did to fix

That's a common problem with any aluminum boat used in saltwater. Make sure you neutralize the salt before you paint or rhino line. Good luck!

It is most likely caused by Thunder jet not removing the mill scale. Do a search on aluminumalloyboats.com for mill scale. It should be removed before welding. The salt water will get trapped between the mill finish and the face of the alloy and start corroding. The easiest way to remove it is with a muriatic acid wash.
