I was told today by a very reliable source draggers in Alsaka are reporting large bicatches of chinook salmon in their nets. This has been ocurring in locations not previous known to contain large numbers of chinooks.
Speculation has it that Chinooks are amassing in unpresidented numbers and may be atributed to underwater volcanic explostion in Alaska which contributed to an obnormal high spike of plankton.
The origin of the fish is unknown at this time but some say it may explain more about the historiclly high return of Fraser rvr. Sockeye.
Lets hope this proves that Chinook Salmon stocks are are rebuilding and we can expect a healthy Chinook fishery now and many years to come!
