Abbotsford Cabelas

hopefully they have a better grasp on what to stock their fishing section with. Nanaimo cabelas has more bass fishing gear than every bass fisherman on Vancouver island combined would go through in the next 25 years, and next to no steelhead gear and a very marginal selection of saltwater gear. that being said, im sure their real money maker is in the clothing and hunting sections.

I was less than impressed with the salt water fishing gear selection at the cabelas in tulalip. I had $100 credit from a deal I had from staying at the casino there (highly recommend, rooms are awesome). great store to browse but totally out to lunch imho for pacific nw salt water gear. I ended up buying a kicker bracket for my boat. the clowns in the boat dept had no idea and were no help at all, the box had been opened, no instructions etc. so i wasn't sure if everything was there or not, the aholes wouldn't even look it up to see and they were not busy at all. they would be the last store I would buy from, I bet they pull a target in canada, lol. I sure wouldn't be excited if they came to my neck of the woods.

Cabela's is a box store, whos stock is controlled by their head office, and since the bulk of their fishing sales is Bass, guess what....thats what we get to see on the shelf. The regional offices get very little say at the initial inventory and order set up of the store. I dont expect to see any better from Bass Pro when they open up in Tsawassen either.

Over the last few decades I probably spent $10,000 with them. Then a few years ago I ordered marine carpet for the boat. I could see after I installed it that it was crappy, totally over-hyped, but it was tacked in place and I figured I'd live with it.

Then three months later, I noticed a charge on my Visa for $ 75 from Cabelas. Customer service said that now that there is a facility in Olympia (first one in washington state) they had to go retro on sales tax. I said : 3 months after the fact you figure this out--WTF?

They wouldn't answer me but I knew getting that charge reversed was micturating in the wind

I would rot in a very hot place before buying another item from cabelas after that display of corporate malfeasance.

I like this, a f_ _ k cabellas hijack thread, lol.

sorry getbent, couldn't help myself

They're usually OK for clothing haven't bought any real fishing gear from them in years though.

All good here, just thought I'd share the scoop, gonna be some other cool stores to go along with it.
Bought a pack from the one down by Marysville, no issues with the purchase. They did have some neat camping gear and the whatnot however...
I imagine it will be similar with the corporate policies not unlike Wholesale Sports...who is prairie based and it reflects in their merchandising although I will say their salt selection is getting better.

No link, just know they are coming, heard it through some development planning sessions.

Aw come on people! ---- they have GREAT fudge!

Gotta agree Bryan. My kids just bought me a box yesterday. In fact, what am I doing on this stupid computer when I could be sitting in front of the TV eating some of it.

Fun to look at the Mounts and stroll around 1 time but prices are high and as Nicnat said some of the help at the Tulalip store is less than helpful. I used to do a lot of Biz with them when products weren't all made offshore and prices were OK. Now they have come to my State and their business model seems to have changed I don't do much business with them even though they are only 20 minutes away. As far as I am concerned it would not hurt my feelings if the Tulalip store packed up and headed your direction. You can have them, really!

Maurice Sporting Goods will be happy Cabela's moved closeby ;)

My brother and I shopped at Nanaimo's Cabelas, in early March.
I found a mummy sleeping bag and he got their 3.5 mm neoprene waders, and their boots.
We are happy with the products, but will watch out for any late charges!
Ya, I checked out the stuffed animals, people love them.
