Cabela's Canada Announces Opening Date of Abbotsford, B.C., Store

Doors to Open at 10 A.M. Thursday, June 23; Weekend-Long Celebration to Follow

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - May 17, 2016) - Cabela's Canada (Cabela's) announced today plans to celebrate the official grand opening of its new Abbotsford, B.C., store on Thursday, June 23, with a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities, guest appearances and more.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by Cabela's executives and special guests, will begin at 9:45 a.m. and conclude with the grand-opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by Cabela's Ambassador, Steve Ecklund. Doors will open for business at 10 a.m.

Opening day will kick off an exciting weekend-long celebration highlighted by special appearances, family events, giveaways and more. A complete schedule of events will be available at www.cabelas.ca/stores when finalized.

The 70,000-square-foot store is located at 1818 McCallum Rd. Upon opening, it will be the second location in British Columbia, joining the Nanaimo store which opened in 2014.

The store is designed to surround customers in an immersive outdoor experience with wood construction, stonework, a large mountain replica, indoor archery range and dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays. It will also include a gun library, firearms counter, conference room, fudge shop, and Bargain Cave.

In addition to the exciting Cabela's shopping experience and thousands of quality outdoor products, the store's staff will offer educational seminars and demonstrations throughout the year providing tips and insight on outdoor products and activities. Cabela's has employed approximately 220 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff the store, most coming from Abbotsford and the surrounding area.

that will be nice having them here, hopfully some good deals

You may get some good opening deals, but if the Nanaimo store is any indication, where the store will shine is in selection.... the prices in Nanaimo are reasonable , but not great. ( but you have to try the fudge!!!! Awesome! )

One thing that people get tripped up on-you can't order something from the US website and have it delivered to a store in Canada to be picked up like you can from the Canadian website-which is something of a cyber ghost town.

This is awesome. Love shopping there. More than happy too not support Fred's!!!!!!
Cabelas knows very little about WCVI fishing. If your looking for clothing, split shots, bass gear, or the odd rod and reel, go for it, otherwise stay with the folks who give you great advice and service. HC or PNT

I found that unfortunately Canadian Cabelas just do not have the selection like the ones in the States do.
Do not expect to be able to look in the States or in the US catalogue and then find the same product in the Canadian stores.
But you never know, I'm willing to give them a try.....

Any idea when the Bass Pro at Tsawwassen Mills Mall is opening???? I've heard Spring 2016 a while ago but nothing recently.

Cabelas in nanaimo even has limited salmon and Hali gear stopped there on the way through to nootka last year Nd didn't even make a purchase on gear just a pair of hiking shoes they have great selection outdoor gear and camping goodies for sure ... Wholesale in nanaimo had way better selection

Hope the Bass Pro in Tsawwassen is better than the Abby Cabelas …. latter is a major disappointment. Was told by one of the staff that it is only about 1/7th the size of the standard Cabelas in the US - thus they don't carry a fraction of the inventory nor have the space for bigger/better mounts and aquarium, etc. Plus, the Canadian Cabelas pricing sucks compared to the US pricing, no better than Wholesale Sports.

Cheers!

Ukee
