good to see you got it resolved, that is weird for a carb

sounds like the needle valve on the carb may have been sticking. or the float sticking causing the needle valve to remain open rather than close when the carb bowl was full. can be caused by the carb float bowl being fastened in the not quite right position. (offset slightly clockwise or counterclockwise from where it should be) or even varnish buildup, dirt, etc in the carb...

I hope that there was expansion at that certain temp that cause the carb to do that and that finally it just stuck for good. Will see I guess.
