For what it’s worth, I read FN0707 again and in my opinion 28-6 is now open for a slot size, that’s how I read it. And 28-9 on Aug 13 with no max.

Defense and Porteau have nothing to do with the “east of Gower to Shah” line because they’re not in 29-3 to 29-5, if that helps clarify that part.

Combat fishing is not my bag, but a nice shorter run for a shot at a nook.
Aaah. Problem solved. I thought it said 28-3 to 28-5 which didn’t make sense. It’s 29-3 to 29-5 east of Gower. Can’t believe I missed that. I must have read it 20 times. Thanks.

The business end of the center console with the handy-dandy coho trough. Getting ready for 28–6 tomorrow morning by hitting Roger Curtis one more time.View attachment 95519
That is pretty slick! Also, is that one of those Bridgeview center consoles? Looks like a stout boat. Makes me think I need to weld on some tubes so I can organize extra rods and my net...I'm always looking for an idea or two for my cc.

Very slick, I laughed at them for years until I found a used one for $10 and starting to use it. Yes, 18' Bridgeview. The stern rod holders are very useful, I have rods in them while travelling to the fishing spot, (rod holders in front of the console too) and use them for the fish club, pliers, and scissors when trolling, close to the coho trough for ease and efficiency. The centre hole was a tow post that Brando cut down for me and I put the net or gaff in it, he also installed the rod holders after I sourced the tubes with the flared end. I am re-living my commercial fishing days.

This map is correct…. Except for 28-6 open now and 28-9 open Aug 13 which was announced after this map was made up. But it’ll clarify the Howe sound areas for you.

I'm confused, it shows that its open at 29-3 to 29-5, 29-8 is open for Chinook in a slot limit of one ????

Game on, print a hard copy and have at it. It's clearly open in 29 3 to 5 according to the restrictions. 1 a day in the slot, marked or unmarked.

They are treating these areas the same as 29 1 / 2 it seems. So don't all go smash your boats up off Caulfield cove haha!

Got a call back from DFO and this is correct in that it is OPEN........let the gong begin

Call one of the guide shops and see what they say. There is a restriction notice further down on the app if you use it for your regs.

Strait of Georgia Chinook closureClosed- Those portions of Subareas 29-3 to 29-5 that lie east of a line from Gower Point (49°23.021'N, 123°32.166'W) near Gibsons to Shah Point on the southern tip of Valdes Island (49°01.695'N, 123°35.721'W): Closed to fishing for Chinook salmon to protect Fraser River stocks of concern until 23:59 hours August 31.

29 - 10, 9, 7 and 6 cover sandheads however. I'm pretty sure the restrictions are the north arm and point grey of 29 - 3 but I need to definitely look at the map in hard copy but it does contradict what the restrictions say. What a circus.

It would be good to ask what is the lowest common denominator, the map within the regs or the restrictions noted below on the dfo site
