Hey whats the deal for after April 1st? Are we allowed to keep fish anywhere around vancouver. Or is it all closed again? I've heard about some areas being open up howesound but wasn't sure if that was approved or not.

Snuck out yesterday between 3-7pm at the bell buoy. Lots of bait and what looked like suspended fish. Had one rod shallow (100ft) the other in the mud. Skunked. I’ve had horrible luck at the bell this year. Time to change it up! On the plus side I got a decent prawn haul off the bell. Never prawned there before but have seen commie traps out there before. Nice constellation prize.

Decided it was too nice out and I was too tired to work today. Got out to the bell from 2-4 and picked up two decent fish. Obvious keepers but not tape worthy. Suspended rod with the double glow black flasher and a green g-force spoon with a black stripe (trap shack, apparently) and a chrome back. In about 145 FOW 125 on the rigger. Few unders as well. Gorgeous afternoon.

Trailer debate over.

Had no luck Saturday at the Bell or Tunstall (3hrs each) had to get back out today. Crossed to Thrasher, 8am-noon just a couple unders. Went to Entrance Island and got a decent fish within 5 minutes, then just a ton of unders for next hour, then dead. Tried spoons, hootchies, even threw a herring at them. Got the keeper near bottom on Herring Aid gold skinny G. Crossed back and hit the Bell for an hour or so, marked a few bait balls but just one missed strike. Beautiful day out there.

Got out to the Bell today for the afternoon tide change, started to hit fish swallow, managed to wrestle one into the boat after loosing a pin popper when I got blinded by a 30 foot commander out deep. Couple more just under, all fish hit on bottom, 90-130 feet.
Lots of bait kicking around, the keeper was stuffed with 5” herring.

I'm curious as to what fishing at this time of year is like compared to say the last 50 year's? Was there a time when you could go out at this time of year and constantly be on fish? Or has it always been hit it miss?

I can't believe you didn't come by and say hi. Friends off.

I haven't fished winter for very long. But I know for me, the past three years have been way better than the previous three years that I was even attempting it. I've also heard from local guides that more recently it's been some of the best fishing they've seen in the past 15 years. I agree, It would be interesting to hear what the past few decades had been like.

Out at the bell all day until 4pm. Caught one undersized in the morning, towed a boater whose motor gave up on him into False Creek, and finally bagged a keeper at 2pm in 120 FOW, 70 ft on the rigger. Also managed to hook a herring by the mouth. There were lots of herring in the area.
