The Salish Sea Spring Fishing Derby is a one-day fun salmon and halibut fishing derby hosted by South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition (SVIAC). This event is a very important fundraiser for SVIAC's Chinook sea pen enhancement projects.

This derby will be held on Saturday March 26th, 2022 with fishing times between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The derby headquarters and sole weigh scale will be located at Cheanuh Marina. The two main derby prizes are cash and will grow based on the number of tickets sold (expected to be between $1,500 and $2,000 each. There will also be a valuable random draw prize, which any derby ticket holder is eligible to win regardless if they fish or weigh in a fish.

So who is going in this derby? It's for a good cause - the Sooke Chinook Sea Pen - 650,000 smolts this year! Last chance to fish for salmon before the new regs. (whatever they will be) come into effect.
