1989 yami 2stroke pro 50.

elec trouble new battery but no power to ignition.short to starter it works but the key nada any ideas thanks in advace. checked fuse on engine block thats fine..

Does it actually start when you jump to the starter or just turn over?

If it starts when you jump the starter andnot when you turn the key have you checked the safety switch lanyard to make sure it is connected and not a little loose?

starter solenoid is likely the problem...when you turn the key with the engine cowling off you should hear it click...if not replace it. Have someone stand by the engine to listen for it
