I've got an old 1952 evinrude 18hourse outboard. We've taken it all appart but the flywheel which isn't coming off. We've removed the flywheel nut, but the flywheel isn't lifting off like we were expecting. Are there any secret bolts or screws that are holding it back, we've been searching for a while. If anyone has ever had any expierience with taking off a flywheel with any outboard at any year PLEASE post how you did it. The repair manual isn't helping us either and since the electronics in the motor is the thing thats not working we're kinda desparate since the generator is underneath the flywheel.
Thanx

hi Flam, is there any other threaded holes near the crankshaft on the flywheel, if so it will have to be pressed off and be carefull not to wreck the key. also leave the big nut on very loose when you press it off or the flywheel may wind up on your feet good luck--- clay
