Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

Other than 23 Lbs heavier than the Yami, what do you think the draw back is with Verado? It's the right HP for me just I have no $$$ and would have to figure out a new kicker/ as a have Honda dual binnacle. #switching is a pain.
My mechanic hates them. Mostly because they are a small motor with a supercharger. It’s his opinion that the tend to have lots of issues. I know a few people running them that like them though.

The last verado engines I had contact with had their issues but those were first gens (10 years ago). Turned me off of merc for many years and I have only recently started to consider them again. I know more recent year verados are good engines and have a couple buddies that have put 4-5 seasons on 200 and 225s and are happy. Just wouldn't be my preference. If it were merc, and I had the choice I'd be going with twin sea pros but that's based on my application.

If that engine hasn't gone for a dip, or sat with a leg in the chuck for last four years with next to no use (or been abused in some other fashion), maybe it's good value for the right person. If I needed a single 200 and rigging, it's gotta be half the cost of replacement. I'm always a little cautious when I see something from a dealer I don't know that seems priced below value.... never hurts to phone and get a story.

Ya getting a twin quote from Boat House in Port Alberni, see if there are any good incentives... we'll see??
I picked up my engines at SG power in Victoria. They were quite a bit cheaper than Breakers. They were brand new but last years stock. There was no changes made so they were exactly the same as the newest models but about 4K cheaper per engine vs Breakers. I work about 1000 feet from Breakers but unfortunately they couldn’t come close to the price at SG. I looked at those 200 Verados and apparently they shake super bad at idle. So if you are going to troll on them it may get annoying. That’s what I was told anyhow.

I will never go near a Verado. my friends boat had endless problems with his. shaking at idle however was not one of them. matter of fact it was the quietest motor i’ve ever been around. but man. what a money pit.

A salesman at the boat show this year said the super charged Mercs have more frequent service requirements than naturally aspirated. I was asking about the 300 vs 350. He strongly suggested the 300 due to this added cost of ownership. I hope I remembered the numbers correctly but it was a Sea Ray M & P guy.

I have a buddy that runs a gulf island water taxi service. His boat came with a Verado 300. It blew up and needs a new power head at 1000 hours. That’s 2 years or less for him. He replaced it with a 350 Verado. He put 800 hours on in 10 months. The power head had to be replaced(fortunately 2 months before the warranty expired, only 1 year warranty on commercial use) mercury did cover the job, it would have been 27k worth of work had he had to pay. His motor is run almost everyday, and is serviced religiously.

So I would assume insurance is gonna just get him a new motor then ? 27k is more then the cost of a new one
They replaced the power head along with a bunch of other stuff that was wrong. The 27k is what the shop told him the job would of cost. The motor was under warranty from Merc. He didn’t have to test his insurance. He didn’t pay a dime. And loves the motor, but has had two blow up in two years. Anyways, I have nothing against Merc, I just hung a 15hp pro kicker on my boat.

Haha brain fart forgot was warranty not insurance..... yeah great motors, I’ve had 1 blow up too

TBH it looks a bit rough around the edges, and it seems that someone welded on a spoiler off of a Honda civic in the original Fast and Furious movie.
Motor is nice though.

Kenferm in Edmonton is known for spoilers on lots of his. Good spot for lights, speakers, towing etc... they don't look bad in person finished all purty like.

Great for speed boat! More of a rod snapper for a fishing boat.
