All Things COVID-19

The lack of testing in BC seems to be a problem, and is leading to underreporting of cases. Example below:

My sister-in-law (SIL) works in a cramped office of approx 20 people. She's now at home sick; likely a case of COVID-19. Here's her timeline:

March 4: co-worker 1 feels sick and goes home
March 10: co-worker 2 has asthma and feels sick, goes home
March 12: SIL feels unwell with chills and extreme fatigue...keeps working
March 14 (Saturday): co-worker 2 has breathing difficulty and is admitted to hospital
March 17: SIL comes to work even though feeling awful, works full day
March 18: SIL stays home, has terrible cough and extreme fatigue with fever
March 19: SIL phones 811 line, is told to go to Urgent Care. Goes to Urgent Care and is asked "why are you here?" and is sent home
March 22 (Sunday): SIL's company calls her to report that Co-Worker #2 has confrimed case of COVID-19, also that co-worker #3 is sick and the office will be closed for 1 day for extra cleaning.

Unreal..... I hope she has a speedy recovery...

Some may have heard that car manufactures are going to help out with producing much need ventilators. Here is a video with the latest news. "Detroit is way ahead of you"

People need to call out the retards publicly when they see them. Even bit of ******** to make it sink in...like my mom just died because of idiots like you. If that doesn't work then we are f&cked.

I’ve spent a large amount of my life in Spain. I just got back Feb 25th before things blew up. Let me tell you. My friends there who I talk daily are telling me some frightening stories. They’ve been locked in their homes 14 days now. And when I say locked in, I mean in. No ******* around. You can go to the pharmacy or grocery store, one person, and walk your Dog 2 times a day. The police or military will stop you and check almost every time. Madrid, the city IS deserted. Neighbours are watching what neighbours are doing and ratting out offenders. They’ve seen tanks running thru the neighbourhood from time to time. They can’t go to parks, walk wherever they want or show up at a hospital unannounced. Foods running out because production has been reduced or halted and gas stations by enlarge are closed. It’s like a war zone. They’re starting to lose it. 33,000 cases/2200 deaths there so far and just yesterday 435 deaths alone. A sign of things to come in Canada. Be prepared.

Vancouver announced they will be closing parking lots in high traffyic locations. Anyone know whether the boat launches, for example, vanier boat launch, will be closed? It's close to kitsalano so I have no idea. I am concerned they will close the gates that lead into the ramp. Anyone out today and launch at vanier? Planning on going out tomorrow but have a bit of a distance to trailer the boat and don't want to get there to find out gates are locked.

Vanier launch was open yesterday, chatted with guy at burrard civic marina. They’re locking down the boat yard/parking lot but docks at marina will remain accessible.

So far all our local launches have been OK, but if the authorities catch some of you guys necking at the end of the wharf that could all change.

Called Vancouver parks board and they had no clue. One guy said he heard something about that but wasn't 100% sure. Couldn't stop shaking my head. How can someone who works for thr park board not know? After several transfers they told me they will be locking down the parking lot to vanier today if it hasn't already been done. Anyone know if Mcdonald Beach is closed? This is getting ridiculous.

Good video @IronNogginWhen are Dr. Bonnie Henry and Mr. Adrian Dix gonna step up and close all non-essential services?!

Agreed, a good video.
From what I have seen of their presentations, they have. There is a number of services most of us do not realize the importance of.
Folks not already following the instructions are not likely to follow 'lockdown rules" any better. Imposing draconian measures will bring out the worst in certain individuals. They will only tie up resources that are needed elsewhere.
Each of us need to do our part. Take a look at th 4:00 mark of the video I posted on page 25 of this thread to see the damage this virus does.

Liberal bill on coronavirus would give feds power to spend, tax without parliamentary approval

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the federal Liberals are poised to table a bill granting them sweeping new powers to spend money and raise taxes without having to get the approval of Parliament.

The legislation grants Finance Minister Bill Morneau extraordinary new powers to spend, borrow and tax without having to get the approval of opposition MPs until December 2021.

The Canadian Constitution enshrines taxation as a power of the parliamentary branch.

Because of that, granting those powers to the federal cabinet alone is highly unusual – even the Emergency Powers Act does not do so.
