Ital-oh my god

I have to add nice fish jr to the list. The kids doing their own coho fishing was a travesty. All the fish were netted into the boat where they were flopping around until bleeding badly then picked up with bare dry hands and flung back into the water. But it’s okay, cause they’re just kids. Right?
Probably lost a half dozen wild coho that day

same with nice fish senior its like they had some high schooler make this show.. its prob the most basic/click and paste show ive ever seen no logic or anything... I could do better on imovie.

Yah it to bad what happened to Gary's shows. He used to be one of my favourites but man the editing on his stuff has went in the toilet the last couple years. Still watch it but it's hard some times.

Still enjoy Big Coast, I know it's mostly fluff but it's good editing, good camera work and decent music it's a good show.
Marks shows in particular West Coat Sportng Journal top them all though, good editing, good how too and good camera work. Marks work always has been and still is the best fishing shows on the tube by far.

I tend to agree big coast is pretty good, I like Brendans Reel West Coast its well done, Marks show is good but the problem is getting the latest episodes its a royal pain in the A$$ cant find them anywhere in the interior and never on WFN / Sportsman channel. BCOSF is alright but not the greatest big mike annoys me sometimes with his HEAVY breathing in the mic! when hes literally just standing there by the rear steering station... thatll be a coronary on the water in an episode in the future..

This episode of Marks man,, well its what keeps me awake at night things like this. This particular episode is what convinced me I needed to get a bigger boat while I was young enough to get out there and enjoy it. If your a fisherman and love chasing big Chinook this is what it's about right here. It's not about filling the cooler, it's about the experience and chasing the hogs boys

.

Ah there's nothing wrong with putting a few in the coooler for the BBQ and smoker. Take what you can use and that's it. We are to the point boys we can't view the wild animals as a main food source anymore but rather a treat to enjoy now and then. It's sad but it's a fact, it is what it is. All I can say is get out there while we can, our days are numbered.

This one exact episode changed my opinions of JR’s papa a lot. If I was him I would not want that footage associated with me period. But hey the grand kid had fun and grandad will make some dough, so who cares if a few less coho make it ? He was the show to watch, I am sure for a lot of us. Now he can just get in his frog boat and **** off.

Wow alot of arm chair quarter backs on this subject.. I thought it was a thread on Italo but how quickly it changed to local waters.. Yeah the episode on NF Junior coho was hard to watch at one point but you have to give the kids credit and yeah they probably needed a little more help. I think at one point we have all been there learning as a kid or when you where new to fishing on how to handle a fish. Now nothing stops you from starting your own Fishing show and having the rest of us rip the sh-t out of you on how to fish.. Its there show so if you don't like them don't watch.. I would imagine it takes alot of effort and money to get a show off the ground and up and running so good for them. Oh and yes i enjoy watching them all.

Haven't watched it for a long time as I don't fish for those species that they feature in their shows, but In-Fisherman used to have a really good TV fishing show. It was always very informative and you learn new techniques from them. From what I can remember they also practiced good catch and release techniques.

I like the strike moments best as well. Can't stand it if the camera starts only half way into the fight. Misses the best part.
I remember the Gary C show in the 80's when he actually fished himself and introduced local hot spots and techniques. That was the show to watch with lots of useful info. Same with Charlie White. Nowadays the hosts just take a top guide and go to some unknown remote spot and catch fish after fish. Nothing relatable for average Joe in his 17DE trying to grind out a keeper off Coal Island off Sidney. Hell, even I could catch slab after slab if I hired Gibran White for $1,500 a day fishing 20 miles off Esperanza or with Dan Escott out of Masset.
And don't get me started on Mark Pendlington. Good camera work for sure but the guy is a pain. No humour, totally stressed out everytime, thinks it's the size of swivel that makes him catch fish and stiff and impersonal as a fence post. My favourite these days is Sportfishing On The Fly, not always great but authentic, informative, easy on the eye and ear.

Quite a few years ago there was a very good show called “Iron Blue Fly Fishing”. I think it was based out of Alberta but they seemed to fish in BC quite a bit. For me, it captured much of what I love about fishing: peaceful, beautiful videography of the landscapes and quiet conversation. It was very light on dialogue and it wasn’t at all about “how big” or “how many”. I don’t recall there being any product placement to speak of, but I guess it was a different time. It didn’t stick around on BC networks for long, I recall, but it was appointment watching for me.

Pendlington always looks like he doesn't enjoy fishing. No personality, no character. The guy always has this way too serious demeanor about him. He can fish though. Just hard for me to watch him. I like Reel West Coast with Brendan Morrison, especially when he has Willy Mitchell as a guest.
Italo and Henry. Used to call them the Glove Brothers. I had seen Italo filming a show on the water in Lake Ontario about ten years ago. Their boat was the only boat not catching fish, but they had so many rods out, on down riggers, divers and planer boards. The boat looked like a sea urchin there were so many rods. Darryl Choronzey was another prize from Ontario

I enjoy his tackle run downs but one episode they tied stinger hooks to spoons and I thought that was a bit much. I enjoyed some of his episodes of chasing coho on the fly and working kelp beds.
