"Alone" T.V. Show....

Threeper,

The show had bee picked up, History Channel ordered the show (10 episodes) and had Left Field productions do the producing. Same company that does Pawn Stars, Counting Cars. All of the contestants did know of the prize money prior to hitting the ground.

History has ordered another season, I have been on the water with the crew the last two days doing location scouting. From what I understand it was the third most watched program during it run with over 3 million viewers per week. I also heard there may be some women the mix this year. Should make things interesting and a a twist to this season.

Cheers

Thanks for the correction BearCove. Shows you what a rumour mill the island can be haha. I hope they keep the "basic" format to the show. No over the top narrator trying to amp it up. Just the cameras, the guys on the beach, and some "the more you know" facts thrown in for good measure. Wife and I love it. I work for West Coast Heli (or "West Coast Choppers" as the credits shows us as! LOL!) so I know some of our guys knew the winner some time ago and I had to make sure I didn't get any spoilers before the season ended.

Was a good end to a great show! I picked Alan and Lucas to make it the furthest, was surprised Lucas tapped out when he did, thought he had it in the bag. Sam did well too for a young guy but living off a mouse every few days wouldn't be too fun! Alan was deff one tuff dude, his reaction was pretty funny when they told him he won "over so soon?" lol. He was prepared to live there till the spring! Altho I cant imagine when the snow started falling there would be many days left for anyone. I don't really know how they could have made the ending more dramatic, I think it was pretty well done, maybe just have his wife come in and tell him? I donno. I also noticed the rods in the rod holders on the Grady, Wade did you take them out fishing after they tapped out? lol. How long of a cruise was it from your cottages to where the contestants were?

ThreePer,

It was tough keeping quiet, especially in town as everyone wanted to know. Sounds to me like they are not going to be changing much for this season, just some different locations is all. They have found some great spots that with the right person on them they should be able to do quite well.

Vanisland,

Alan was in the Winter Harbour area and we had our rescue to located in Winter Harbour on 24 hour standby for the fact any of the guys in the area needed help or tapped out of the game. Had the rods in the rack as we did have to kill some time over there when there wasn't much to do. The spring fishing was great for us, nothing big but lots of tasty winters.

can we find the show on netflix or other recorded spot?UOTE=BearCove;423341]ThreePer,

In the last episode that storm looked really vicious....the waves and wind were humongous....

Just wondering what they would have used to extract, say, a contestant that had a sudden life threatening injury.....

Call in the Coast Guard?

I think a lot of that was "file footage" Most places where those guys were it doesn't get as rough as what they were showing. None of them were in the face of the open pacific-say along cliffe point-most were in "relatively sheltered backwaters like Browning inlet which is where I "think" Alan was.

I was hoping they would get to Alan before he ate those last slugs. Agree a little anticlimatic, was wondering if they were going to roll in boat horn going, chopper over head... Best was the beginning with the animals, which high tallied it out of the area once they figured these guys were settled in. Im a bit of a skeptic of reality tv shows. Looked like they were getting there clothes washed after day 30. Lucas was in totally clean sweater and boots. Alan had a brand new jacket on before he found out he won. Still good a show.

Fish Stalker,

I can assure you there was no clothes being washed or changed out. These guys wore what they took from start to finish. We did take them some better winter gear once the temp started dropping below 0 as they didn't have anything like that when they hit the ground. Other than that all they had was what they took in their back pack when they were dropped.

Lucas was a bit OCD, think that was one of the reasons he had his breakdown. In my mind he was the best player, boat, house, catching fish, guitar, looked like he could have stayed there forever.

Seafever,

These guys were all in pretty protected waters to ensure we could get to them at any given time. Sam had the most exposed site but thats due to him building his shelter in the wide open like he did, he could have gone inland a bit and got out of it.

Let me tell, it did friggin blow over there, might not of had huge waves pounding the beach but it did blow 60 or better for multiple days on these guys.

Coast Guard is made aware of whats going on in the area and is given all the contestants locations for the fact they do need to get involved at some point.

Cheers

Awesome show. Loved it all. The mental game showed so early on some of them and you just knew they weren't prepared to get it done. Was so happy Alan won, he deserved it. Good production, don't change a thing. Can't wait till next season.

Liked the series but found the wrap up episode lame. Using file footage with the three guys in a picture in picture format didn't work IMO. Also found that it was too much of a rehash of the final episode as opposed to giving more insight. Looked kind of cobbled together in a hurry. Overall though I enjoyed the series concept and would watch it again. Wonder if seeing the first series will impact the next group?

Ya I agree with Ziggy. I hate to say this... and it sounds terrible... but they should do a "wrap up" show like my wife's terrible bachelorette shows she watches where they get everyone together and have someone ask them questions and see the guys interact with each other and talk about strategy etc. Kind of like Deadliest Catch "after the catch" or whatever they call it.

Bear Cove,

I'm curious about what instructions/requirements they had around fish and game regulations. For instance, were they required to have a valid license in their possession? Silly question I know but being a stickler about following regs it was one of those nagging thoughts that I had throughout the show.

Great show. Really looking forward to next season. With the "bar set" and some better knowledge of what to expect I would anticipate a couple of players going considerably longer than 56 days. But then again . . . who knows.

Tyeeking,

The show got special permits through the government to produce the show. This covered fishing, hunting, cutting trees and things on crown land.

Not sure how well the new crew is going to do but they did have a chance to watch this season so assuming the smart ones will take something from it and use it wisely.

I still think the hardest part of the game is the mental part, solidarity is tough, look at Lucas, he was killin it with his yurt, boat, catching fish, mushrooms, great water source and couldn't handle being by himself.

Think its going to be a great one though.

Cheers

Wade, any chance they are going to allow Canadians to enter the show in the new season?
Would be interesting to see the comparison of how our outdoor enthusiasts fair against the American ones :p

Great show! My wife and I were watching intently every week. I was rooting for Alan from the start. I thought he had the mind set for it from the get go and more so as the weeks went on. I enjoyed his very dry sense of humor too :) I think these guys all took a lot emotionally and spiritually from this show. Being alone with nature is one of the purest forms of healing and enlightening anyone can ever do. But if the person isn't mind strong it can also have very damaging affects emotionally. I hope these guys all deal with things they thought about during this alone time in a positive manner and use it to bring more happiness to their lives.
Some of the guys had much more emotional things going on in their personal lives at the time of the show. That for sure played a big roll in their time on the show.

I think the mind game is very huge for a lot of people who don't spend a lot of time alone. I think if you were to see a seasoned hunter/trapper/guide outfitter etc. on this show you would see some of them last a very long time. With saying that though; complete solitude is very mind bending for even a tough outdoors man. Some people just don't do well dealing with deep thoughts when alone. The world is a different place when in complete solitude. BUT when you are in nature you are never truly alone. Just separated from humans. Nature is filled with things to make us feel apart of things and the energy surrounding us if you allow it to.

But I know the show wants to probably have more "every day" type of people on the show with just "some" outdoor experience, so we probably won't see any very serious outdoors men on this show.

Sure is nice seeing one of these types of shows in our back country. Can't wait for the next one! :)
