the skeleton was the symbol of the very popular brand Powell Peralta... Don't think it is meant to be offensive and perhaps you were talking to Kevin Harris himself.
I don't see it as offensive....it's quite obvious that it depicts the Beaver as a great source of protein for those members of the force that are malnourished.....
I met Kevin Harris many times a youngster , The man has done endless amounts for the skateboarding community and is truly a great Canadian... As a youngster I traveled with friends to the Richmond skate ranch and skated with pro's such as Rob "Sluggo" Boyce and Colin Mckay and the late Ray Underhill.. I was 13 when I first met these guys and although I don't skate much anymore.. these guy's have made a life and career from doing something they love and how many of us can say we have done that...
Yep Kevin Harris for powell peralta skateboards. Yes I am ex skateboarder to....
OMG Jeff? Rob "sluggo" Boyce yes I knew him too. He used to come over from Van.... We set up a skate park in langford before he got sponsored...I big group of them used to skate with us....I believe Colin used to come too...
Holy cow small world we probably crossed paths I remember richmond.. Used to go there too I would have been 16 ...I also remember when I was introduced to a band red hot chili peppers when we skated there. They weren't big then...It was like 5 bucks to see them..
That is too funny I identified that pic as soon as I seen it....Its funny Powell and peralta have just brought original caballero boards...All the old artwork from bones brigade still exists as it did when we were kids...
It's art, and like all art, it won't, nor should it appeal to all. I don't mind it, and think it is very Canadian, with a classic Powell Peralta style.
Who knew??? Not being part of the skate boarding generation I know nothing of the Powell Peralta mystique. I'm afraid I'm with FA on this one - I don't like the image. And Dave S, I will give you the point, it's art and it doesn't need to appeal to all.
