2012 Vancouver, Howe sound and Sunshine coast reports thread

I think this is the fish report thread !

I was out at the QA today and it was lumpy to say the least, but after 2 hours I netted a nice 20 lb Red Spring at about 70 feet down using anchovie.

I am planning to head across to Thrasher on Friday. Has anyone heard what is working over there? And any other recommendations to try other than at Thrasher?

Last I heard Thrasher was not producing that well. Try further south around Porlier Pass. I'm heading out tomorrow morning starting at the Bell then try the North Arm south to T-10. If the winds stay down maybe Bowen...

Cheers, Rob

If I had today off, I'd be fishing t10 south to the South ARM, if the winds ate down next week and being after the 28th it should be holding the big reds we can keep

X2 I haven't heard any good reports from Gabriola for two weeks now. Local should be picking up right about now.

Thought I would let you guy's know but I didn't get out this morning as there is a SE17. Maybe tomorrow. AND no more slot size.. Guess that worked out.

Cheers, Rob

SE should be ok , but the removal of the slot size tommorow is better since u will be hauling in a 30 lber.
GL and give us some pics of it

Wind

I cancelled my trip at 5:00 AM today because of the wind. We are heading out on Sunday from Ladner. I called Berry's Bait and Tackle to see if there was any good news...anywhere. There wasn't. They had heard of some fish coming in at Hole in the Wall but that was it. So where to go on Sunday? I will probably try QA but I would have like to head over to Trasher if nothing else than to get away from Vancouver for a day.

For those of you heading out on Saturday please let us know how you make out.

Tim

Call pacific angler in vancouver, they are always happy to give you reports and point you in the right direction

Brought home my first Coho for 2012, an even 6lbs. 40 feet down on a green glow speckle backed teaser behind a green glo flasher in 75ft of water. Only fish for the morning, we had to pull the pin at 1 before the top of the tide. Nothing else to show for our efforts, although we saw a few nets coming out. No a legal crab to be found amongst the 30 or so we tossed back. Did have a seal tracking us for quite awhile down near fisheries, but offered him no lunch...

Very best,

Ian

We trolled south from the QA for a few miles and back this am, using anchovies 60-110 feet. No hits.

Then moved in to the harbour, nada there either.

Nice to be out though!

Fished QA for a few hours then west van this afternoon. One nice coho on, 30' in 150' of water. White glow hootchie and purple haze flasher.

It made some nice airtime jumping behind the boat then a seal grabbed it. Epic 20 minute battle and mr. whiskers won. No other hits for me today but a nice sunny day on the water. Damn those seals are strong, fought like a freight train.

Cheers

If anyone is missing their top cover of a Scotty downrigger, it's on the upper levels hwy west bound just west of Westview shopping center.
