Does anyone know where I can find the halibut bank weather buoy data? Specifically the wave height. I can't seem to be able to find it on line as usual, perhaps it's currently down. Thinking about crossing today.
Looks like a lot of them are down.

I'm staring at Nanaimo right now from our cabin near roberts creek and it's swirling about out there. Definitely doable now, probably blowing sustained 10 to 12 knots but I think it's building a bit.

I take that back,it's not bad at all out there.

We started to do the crossing, but ended up deciding to rethink. I'm currently at Puerto cove, we've released a couple decent fish.

Reed point doesn't have a launch. And Tunstall is basically South Bowen. It’s got to be the same distance as the hump or closer. I can’t help with reports because I have fishing but just want to make sure you know where you’re going
you can fish any part of south bowen roger curtis to cowans tons of springs out there

Looks like a no bananas, but the west coast version. It's actually been decent for us the last few times out. I had a herring aid out on a black flasher and got nothing to my dad's three fish. So I switched to the something similar with chartreuse and evened things up a bit.
Awesome! Got one of those from Jeff. Thanks for the intel.

Did some boat chores at the marina yesterday that went quicker than expected so headed out for a few passes. Fished Cowen for 90 minutes from 11:30 to 1:00 and got 5 nice chinook from ~6 to ~12 lbs. No coho around that I found.

Chinook were spread all over with hook ups at 80' and 120'. Really healthy and lively fish too. They hit hard, fought hard and kicked off easily when I gaff released them. 2/5 fish were hatchery clipped. Seemed like lots of fish around!

I agree on the fight comment, super scrappy right now. Going out today for the tide change around 11. Did you try shallower at all for coho bites? Would love to bring 2 clipped home today.

At 30-40 depth in tide lines , weeds so keep checking gear
4-5mph plugs dancing like a under ground rave party at big nostrils place , line peeling hammered, I found if nothing in 20-30 min change clours/speed

Didn't try an shallower for coho. Thought about it and would next time or if I'd had more time. Good luck!

Fished south of Bowen yesterday, sorry no picture. Was able to sample number of Chinook. Mostly clipped and legal to keep if we were allowed to. Good number of coho. A few wild released and unfortunately lost a clipped one to the seal right by the boat and another to mishandling of the net. Crabbing was unreal. My brother and I limited out even with one trap. Glad I didn’t cross to thrasher. Based on other reports, not many lingcod around. I guess they’ve been hit hard due to salmon closure.

There’s also a fiberglass sunbridge cruiser up on the beach. Closer to Sunset Beach tho.
