Ya if your not comfortable running a 4 foot tight chop, don’t do it lol, early morning and late before dark usually lays down, I have done it probably 100 times, wth different boats, smallest being a 17 hourston, in the smaller boat I just hug the shore across from the bay and took it easy, in the big boat I just pound through in the middle, biggest problem is you can see the logs in the water when your running through there
Absolutely, early morning and late evening. I watch people beat themselves up on that stretch of water.....from the cabin.

Been in rough seas in a 12 ft or 14 ft tin boat anywhere in the canal in the late afternoons for many years. I didnt like to run,,my back hurt. I trolled with chinook or sockeye gear inside the protected log boom or close to little quiet rocks. Went slow to get to home at sunset. Much easier than being in rush.

I hit a log once once, that’s it, but friends have hit multiple times, and tangle up in fishing nets too

Does anyone know what they are charging for sockeye along the road?

I'm heading to Nootka for the summer next week and don't think the weather is going to slow the fish down in time for me.

Thanks

Saw an ad on Marketplace $30 for large sockeye. Also saw 4 otters on the fish way cameras yesterday morning, first time I've seen that in 3-4 years of watching the cameras.

That's the second time I heard that today. Anyone get footage?

The fish actually have been making most the move at night, and bypassing nets from what I was told by some of them netting. Hasn't been very good for they say. Have a feeling why you see such an effort in day. I had a word with some of them on weekend when I was coming in. Port Alberni like it or not does have round table process in place which we are a part of. Is it perfect no, but it is a lot better than most areas.

We must all remember it really can't just be recreational fishing open and no one else. Doesn't work that way.

Anyway.... anyone have a report for this morning at all?

This thread needs to get back to fishing reports as SV just noted. Conservation discussions need to take place in that forum.
