Anyone have an idea of the average travel time from Port Hardy to Winter Harbour by car. Not pulling anything. Just want to have a car in there. Thanks,......BB

77km on gravel, about 1.5hrs, if you want to keep your tires:D Some new crush on the Port Hardy side of Holberg, so would advise to slow down over the new 'speed bumps'

Thanks for the replies. C.S. will watch for you on my way in..lol.. Just finished using Google maps, worked very well, sorry, should have thought to use it before posting. Tight Lines,................BB

Give yourself 2 hours.

We (MOFR) just fixed up a section from Holberg to WH this spring, replaced a bridge, ditched, brushed, put up new signs and graded sections to improve access. It is not much, but it helped and it was all the $$$ we could get out of Vctoria to do it. It is a prioirty to get the road in good shape.

Since they are one of only two WFP areas working this summer, make sure you stop by the office to see what traffic is around. They have already had two close calls with trucks and boats on the road.

Cheers

The last time I was in Holberg, Rainner Logging was there, with all the houses on floats, late 56 early 57, then they dragged them all up on the beach, next to the river mouth. They built a new community centre there and we used to come down from the radar base to watch 16mm movies. So where is the WFP office, near the community centre in Holberg? Will either be driving a corrella or a chevy 1/2 ton 4x4. Not towing anything. By the way, there was no road from PH to Holberg in those days. Flew in on a canso from Vancouver,or came by boat from Coal harbour to Holberg. Looking forward to a fishing holiday for about 2 weeks in WH. Thanks for the replies............BB

The WFP Office is right next the brand new Rec center. You cannot miss it. Also stop by the Red Ibis for some good food.

What type of vehicle is a Corrella?? Did you mean Toyota Corolla? If so, make sure you have a few spare tires, the new fill on the roads is blasted crush, which will eat those P rated tires.

A friend took a group hiking at Cape Scott last week. They got 2 flat tires on one minivan somewhere along there. Go slow. Have a great trip.
