The Salish Sea’s orcas are late for their annual summer visit.

Maybe they are to busy down south feasting on one of the biggest salmon returns in decades?

Date and location each Southern Resident pod was last seen:
J-Pod - June 9, Tofino
L-Pod - March 31, Monterey
K-Pod - January 19, Puget Sound

I understand that these are among the most heavily studied and tracked animals on earth. Since it is well know when they are in the now closed areas, why are the closures not spot closures only when they are present? Perhaps other political factors are at play.
