Parksville area fishing

I will be heading up to Parksville next weekend with my 11 year old son, who is mad about fly fishing and basically fishing in general. We won't have a boat, but have enjoyed shore casting for salmon before, and dome a very little bit of river fishing. Are there any relatively accessible spots up there where he might be able to unfurl a line, whether fly or otherwise?

there are some Sport fishing shops in the area( Nile Creek Fly Shop and Coast Sportfish come to mind). Either give one a call or drop in and have a chat with the staff.

As far as river fishing - the Englishman, Little Qualicum and Big Qualicum should have fish in them now. Be sure to consult the regulations;
