The same question poses itself as I noted on the Nootka Sound fishery.

I am just back from :(, there are no Chums there, not even enough for one set with one boat. We are not at full Coho limits so again, who authourized under what authourity, the retention of Coho in Net fishery.

This fishery will operate under a harvest rate fishing regime with a fleet size
of 8 vessels. An additional fishing opportunity in the open area identified
above is possible on Wednesday September 26 if the Nootka Sound fishery (See FN
0691) also opens on that day. It should be noted that Nootka Sound will only
reopen on Wednesday Sept 26 provided effort levels on the Tuesday Sept 25
opening are 25 vessels or less.

Fishing will proceed for 4 to 5 weeks starting Tuesday, September 25, in chum
migration areas.

An observer will participate in the Esperanza Inlet chum fishery.

Fishers participating in this fishery should read their licence conditions
carefully. Fish must be sorted immediately in a wet area and prohibited species
released. Revival tanks are mandatory and must be operating at all times when
fishing to revive non-target salmon species prior to release. The maximum set
time is 60 minutes. Vessel Masters are required to take observers on board when
requested. Vessel Masters must maintain a harvest log and report catches within
24 hours of the fishing closure to the toll- free number listed in the Salmon
Log Book.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is interested in reports of sea turtles in BC

survive please phone 1-866-638-2473 or your local charter patrol to organize
pick-up. Birds can also be dropped off at local DFO offices or send a
photograph of the bird with date, time and location to seabirdphoto@gmail.com.
