Why are there Nets on the Fraser

So, if no fish show up on the beds this year after all this. Can you imagine what they are going to do next year?
Guessing August 1st. Opening at a minimum.

No enhancement plans. Probably means this will go on for many years.

Just posted this on Wilkinson's FB Page:

Hasn't even been a month, yet SIXTEEN openings you have let, many of them a week's long duration, on the most endangered runs of Chinook the Fraser has??!! That works out to nets in the water more often than not since you told us all that was the EXACT reason you were forcing everyone else off the water!? You are indeed "raising the bar" as you so eloquently put it. In the highest achievable level of HYPOCRISY possible that is. :-

All, try not to get to mad, the blame all falls on Mr JT, nothing will change as long as we are slaves to the UN, lets tell them how PISSED OFF we are in Oct. Lets do our part and make Wilkinson get a new boss.

Is it possible to cross reference last years openings to this year to see what reduction, if any, there has been on the early fraser netting?

Not as far as I can see, They only have current years up.

Comparing it to 2014 since that's there most current data it is less than that. There has not be any brood openings that are "Lower Fraser Bands" that would be all 29 bands fishing at once. So its less

At the end of the day the highest court in the land has ruled natives have the final say when it comes to fishing and hunting. They really do not have any rules on when or how much they can take. Anyone who says differently is fooling themselves. DFO can make rules and sound like they mean business but it is all just idle rederick.
The only way to change this now would be through parliament and how likely is that?

Does anyone have any pictures of the nets in the river this year? I feel like if we can show rather than tell the general public, they can gain a better understanding of what is actually going on.

In both terms of fisheries and wildlife management, CONSERVATION comes first. That VERY much applies in this case. If the early run stocks of chinook are in as bad shape as we understand them to be, then no-one should be removing ANY of them at all. Period.

The Minister publicly stated the restrictions he imposed were emplaced specifically such that the FN's would be throttled back and allow more of these fish to hit the spawning grounds. Sure as hell looks like "business as usual" for them now that everyone else has been booted to the curb. And to hell with "conservation" along the way...

Ticked,

So if we had past broods for this years returns that are some of the worst on record.
How are we still having any openings when conservation should be the most important factor.
In some of these small creeks in the upper Fraser every spawner counts!

Page 34 of this report talks about monitoring and enforcement and page 24 talks about Fishery senarios including – Commercial troll, recreational and First Nations fisheries fisheries will need to be closed or restricted to very low levels of incidental mortality during fisheries for more abundant stocks/species to avoid impacts on these populations. I guess the only ones not participating in conservation as the first priority are FN gillnet fisheries and I hope as stated in this document that the DFO is monitoring and enforcing so they can report on the numbers of critically endangered early run chinook are prevented from spawning because they were killed in all the FN gillnet fisheries. There are very constricted areas around Boston Bar that can basically get every fish coming through there so it needs to be monitored and enforced very closely. For a start the DFO cannot continue the practise of self monitoring of gillnet fisheries. Give the University students summer jobs to do unbiased counts.

As the DFO notices show....... Not Monitored.
Watch.....they will soon remove that sentence.

When even your Heads of Government dont follow court orders that shows you how Corupt this entire Scam is.

If only it was that easy. Which political Scum shall we replace them with?
There is not a party that will "listen to Sound Science and data provided" or one that will enforce anything on Fraser Fishery.
