What down riggers are you running?

Get 1106. I wont buy high speed because of digital counter.
Not the issue it once was. The newer generation digital counters are much improved and lets not forget that the old manual counters also wear out and screw up. I have heard it is possible to do a minor modification and run both type counters on the 2106 for built in redundency although I have not done it. Whatever you are running, it pays to carry a spare counter and for that matter, spare male and female plug, spare belt, and spare screw in mounting pin (they sometimes fall overboard in the mounting/demounting process - **** happens).

Same here. I’ve had the same 2 belt 1106’s since 1991 guiding over 100 days a year up until last year.
I just don’t fish deeper than 170 and won’t be changing

Edit....

I’ve also caught a lot of salmon plus a few halibut on the retrieve for a gear check, I’m sure the slower speed helped
