How does a company justify a $2500 increase in that short of a timeframe?

Demand and maybe an increase in aluminum costs. My pod 5 years ago was $2800. Same one today from same person is $5k

Aluminum prices have increased but not that much. $2800 5 years ago was still a bargain imo. There is a deceiving amount of work going into a properly built pod with integrated swim grid.

That is a good thought and in the back of my mind. It is the cheap potential solution for sure. Way cheaper than playing with props, haha. It's just kinda patchwork and bothers me for some reason. Pod cost jumped $2500 since the quote given to me two months ago so I am more likely to try the foils out at this point.

That would make the original quote for the pod roughly $8500. I guess I’m in the wrong business.

Business has changed ownership. 25% hourly rate increase and the new owner said the old owner was underestimating jobs.

I'm not particularly upset. I'd be pissed if the bill for the finished product was double the quote. It's all good. I'll just take business elsewhere and pay the 5k if I decide to swap pods (seems like market rate for a good pod) . I was surprised the quote was sub 3k originally. If I didn't know the shop I'd assume it would be a shoddy job (generally get what you pay for).

Think they are 14.25 dia. So yes, not huge. I will try some rev 4s and ecos with some different loads and find out how she does.
