Just woondering whats being going on for trout fishing. Anyone catching anything or is it a little too cold yet. Fished Quamichan in Duncan this morning landed one about 14 inches.

going up in the back country today. we are going to fish some trophy cutthroat . we have some of the largest coastal cutthroat in the world .these fish are mostly just caught on the fly but spoon s also work.its 6 30 and i gotta go so...good luck to all fishers today!

I was out on elk yesterday trolling some flys around and nothing happening. I did see some chronimids coming up but few and far between.

Spent a long day on Langford yesterday, nothing except a couple of hits at a kwikfish, no hook ups. Saw a lot chironies as well but nothing doing just yet.

Fished Maple Lake from shore on Tues "skunkaroonie". Didn't see anyone else do any better, one fellow in a belly boat had one on for a very brief time..... :( SS

we did ok today. we hit a dozen or more .the biggest maybe a healthy 22-23 inch . all wild cutts. no big boys but i had some.. a few things happened.

A bit of skunking has been going on of late for sure, things should pick up right smartly soon though. [:p]

i find that the full moon puts down the cutthroat in the lakes here does any body find the same? i think that because the kokanee are on the surface , the are easily ambushed by trout from below all night . the the day comes and the big cutts are sulking on the bottom full of bait fish. this is what i think happens. does any one have any thoughts on this?.

what area you fishing Patches?I was just out yesterday on saltspring island and did ok with olive chronnies and blood worms.I usually don't even bother fishing the day befor or the day of or day after a full moon.In the interior the fishing dies on the full moon, but the cutties on saltspring don't seem to mind it.However none of the big ones were caught and they were taking very light.10 or 12 hits and only 4 landed

thats what i mean...we hit a dozen fish on the full moon but they were all small and the biggest 21 inch fish was taken on a slow troll . the big hog i lost was huge but again a slow retrieve. i think the small fish that are avoiding the big fish are more aggressive and in the open when the big boys sit down on bottom and sulk . i find here ,when your catching all 20 + inch fish you rarely take small fish .i find on the full moon a slow deep troll with a small leach works well .thanks for the reply on the interior lakes i was thinking about if it has an effect on them as well.you can catch big fish on the full but i really think a change of line is in order. a slower sink line will let you hold your fly in the zone on a slower retrieve or troll .

I won't even go to the interior anymore on a full moon.Years ago I ran into Jack Shaw in Kamloops region..Jacko Lake, and he told me not to even bother fishing for rainbows durring a full moon. Those were still nice cutts patches.Think you could tell me what area you are in?Or is it a secret?

i live and work as a fishing guide /organic farmer in the Powell river area. I fish all the lakes in the back country here. they all have nice cutts.do you live south island ?how is the trout lakes there?

I live on Saltspring Island.A couple lakes here here have cutts and bows to 20 inches with the odd one to 24.the lakes are small with no motors allowed. The fish don't fight like the truot in the kamloops region though. That is by far my favorite area.:D

How did it taste? :D

Take care.

Given I don't eat colored up trout and the fact it's dead I think it's a perfectly legitimate question.

How DID it taste? ;)

Take care.
